Graffiti
I spent most of my teens and 20's as a graffiti artist, splitting weekends between my hometown friends I grew up with, and my writer friends. From 1999 to 2001 I lived in Philly while I was attending Art School. I was introduced to writers from all over, and as far as Japan. You could find paint on pretty much every piece of clothing I owned, and my fingernails were usually caked in the colors of the last wall I did. A dead giveaway of a writer, and even sparked a conversations from other writers when riding the train between Philly and Newark, which I did more times than I can remember. Certain parts of that line we're like riding in a car at an amusement park through an ever changing outdoor art gallery. It was an amazing subculture to be a part of at that time in my life and I miss it. But it will always be found influencing all of my work today.
Below are some of the photos of the work I had done during this time in my life.
